Nice People Dancing to Good Country Music |
Nice People Dancing to Good Country Music is an American comedy written by Lee Blessing. The story is about Catherine, a failed Novice, who has left her convent and sought out her favorite aunt for sanctuary from the rest of her family. This particular aunt, however, happens to be living in sin with her barkeeper boyfriend in Houston, Texas. In this scene Catherine is courted by a cowboy, Roy Manuel, who is not the sharpest tool in the shed. Throughout the scene, Roy tries to get a date with Catherine, while Catherine begins to remember why she wanted to be a nun in the first place. Unlike many plays that rely on the situation to propel the action, this one relies on the characters and their interplay. Also, the number one rule of comedy is that the characters mustn't know that they are funny! |
