Drama III Jean Baptiste Poquelin (Playwright) was born in 1622 to a father who was later to become upholsterer to the King. In 1642 Jean was awarded a Law degree and promptly turned his back on both upholstery and jurisprudence by becoming an actor. A year later he founded a theatre company with the Bejart family - an alliance that was eventually to provide Jean with a lover, a wife, a stage name and a best friend. With the bankruptcy of the company three years later Molière took his act on the road and, after twelve years, returned to Paris. King Louis XIV was so delighted with Molière's work that he gave the company his royal patronage. Molière wrote The Miser in 1668 and starred in the role of Harpagon - the actor's tuberculosis providing the character's cough. His best friend, Bejart, played La Fleche - Bejart's limp (he tried to break-up a duel and was stabbed in the foot - go figure) remains with the character to this day. Molière died of his lung disease in 1673, shortly after playing the leading role in the opening performances of his play, The Imaginary Invalid. Ken Bolinsky (Director) - Now in his third year with Walker
Drama, Ken is a professional director (he belongs to both the Society

as Interim Fine Arts Department Chair as he is of his two Off-Broadway
